Project 2 - Creating a Class Presentation

New Brunswick

Prepare a PowerPoint Assisted Presentation

For this project, you (and your partner) will prepare a slide show to present to your class. You will need to stand up in front of the class to deliver your presentation. It is PowerPoint "assisted" in that you will need to do the majority of the presentation and the slide show will be used to enrich what you are saying. You won't just be standing up there while the audience reads your slides.

Your presentation should be approximately 3-5 minutes long (roughly two minutes per partner). Each group member needs to do a fair share of the presenting duties. You are permitted to write a script or guide notes and deliver from them, but you should not actually read them directly.

Be sure to include all of the regular elements commonly included in PowerPoint presentations... images, sound, transitions, motion, interesting fonts, colours and the like.

For a better presentation:

  1. Space out events chronologically or in some other sensible fashion (don't have them being born and graduating from university on the same slide)
  2. Organize your text in point form without having too much to read
  3. Plan what you are going to say to coordinate with your slide and partner)
  4. Use as many slides as you need. Changing slides helps set the pace... too few and things drag, too many and it's hard to keep up
  5. Balance your pictures with text. Give us visuals to keep us interested. E.g. Don't just tell us where they were born. Show us a map with a big red arrow
